Make-up Tips & Tricks

Wedding make-up advice from a professional make-up artist Rebecca Wilson. Your wedding make-up needs to look good and suit your complexion, it needs to compliment your theme but just as importantly it needs to last the whole day!

  • For a perfect application ensure you establish a good skin care routine at least two months before the ceremony
  • Your skin needs time to adjust to new products so that you can expect a good healthy, smooth and clear skin ensuring a perfect even application
  • Should you be having trouble with a dry skin or dry surface consider changing to a cream cleanser, use lukewarm water to rinse off
  • Is your cleanser right for you? To test: If your face feels tight 20mins after cleansing the product you’ve used is too harsh. Similarly, if your face feels greasy it’s too rich
  • Also try a mask 2-3 times a week to help exfoliate, hydrate and improve the skin's texture
  • HOT TIP - Always have your pressed powder compact with you for touch ups. You could keep it in the groom's top pocket
  • Apply with a powder brush or powder puff (Press and roll onto the face) especially around the nose and T-zone (Forehead, nose and chin)
  • Before re-applying your powder it’s a good idea to blot your skin with blotting papers or a tissue, this prevents a muddy effect or clumping
  • To prevent over-charging your brush with excess powder, tap gently then apply to the face, blending in downwards strokes. Never brush against the small facial hairs. Be careful not to over blend as you will brush off what you just applied
  • Well powdered, matt skin photographs best, not shiny or dewy skin. The apples of the cheeks is the only area that a dewy appearance makes sense in wedding photography
